How Culture Hub is built to be usable for everyone.
Our approach
Culture Hub is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader and browser zoom. We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as the reference point for design and development. This statement describes what the platform supports today rather than asserting a formal conformance claim.
What is supported
- Keyboard. All navigation, menu controls, forms and links are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Visible focus. Focus indicators are never removed, so you can always see where you are.
- Screen readers. Pages use landmark regions, a single top-level heading per page and correctly labelled navigation, so content can be navigated by heading and region.
- Text and layout. Text reflows when you zoom or enlarge fonts, and no information is conveyed by colour alone.
- Motion. Animation is reduced automatically when your device requests reduced motion.
- Images. Decorative imagery is hidden from screen readers, and images that carry meaning have alternative text.
- Forms. Inputs are labelled, and errors are described in text rather than signalled by colour alone.
Known limitations
- Event listings created by community Pages are published by those Pages, so their text quality and structure are outside our control.
- Some third-party content, including any embedded media a Page adds, may not meet the same standard.
- The privacy policy and terms are published as PDF documents, which can be harder to navigate than web pages. Contact us if you need these documents in another format.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on Culture Hub is difficult or impossible for you to use, email info@culturehub.au with the page you were on and what happened. We treat accessibility problems as defects and will look into them.
